Combining production of cacao and farm tours

Binon Cacao joint-stock company is well-known for its unique model of farm tours and chocolate production in Chau Duc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

With the model of organic agriculture and products made from cacao beans, Binon park has become a recommended destination for locals and visitors to the area.

Thanks to the climate and soil, cacao trees in Chau Duc district have a high yield and good quality. All products made from these cacao beans have a special flavor. Seeing these advantages, Japanese high-tech agricultural experts coordinated with Vietnamese enterprises to establish Binon Cacao joint-stock company with the aim of producing tasty chocolate imbued with a native flavor.

The company convinced and cooperated with local farmers who are growing cacao trees using traditional methods to switch to an organic farming model. Binon Cacao’s engineers went to the farms to advise and guide the technical process of tending the trees as well as the output of fresh cacao. It also has expanded the farming area of the cacao trees from 2ha to 17ha in Bau Sen hamlet, Xa Bang commune, Chau Duc district. Applying the advanced production line imported from Japan, fresh cacao will go through 10 stages of a self-contained production line to produce delicious chocolate branded as Binon Cacao.

With 10 years of experiences in growing cacao trees in Xa Bang, farmer Truong Van Tan said that growing cacao at present is no longer difficult. The company guides the process carefully in standard care procedures, using an automatic irrigation system so it does not take much effort. With the price of fresh cacao at 5,500 - 7,000 dong, it still brings higher economic value than some other crops. Tan's cacao orchard is also a destination for visiting and learning from experience.

Initially, Binon Cacao only focused on producing chocolate from cacao beans. However, with the great potential from the bean and its production line advantage, the company now collects more than 6 tons of fresh cacao beans per month to produce about 20 products.

The main products of Binon Cacao include chocolate, pure cacao powder, tea, wine, cereals and cacao smoothies. Binon Cacao's products are certified ISO 22000 by SGS.  The company's products have been exported to Japan as well as being sold in big supermarkets in Vietnam, including the Muji Japanese supermarket chain in Vietnam.

Thanks to the encouragement and support from the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial tourism department, the company has turned its cacao orchards into a place to take farm tours. Covering 4ha near Bau Sen lake, Binon Cacao park meets the criteria of a tourist site.

At the park, visitors can experience unique activities such as visiting a high-technology cacao orchard and factory, camping and enjoying the on-site services of a restaurant, coffee shop and enjoying special chocolate.
