Vietnam International Fashion Week 2015

Fashion lovers recently had the opportunity to admire impressive fashion collections at Vietnam International Fashion Week 2015 held at Gem Centre, one of the-state-of-art buildings, in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It is the country’s most important fashion platform presenting acclaimed international and Vietnamese designers and marking Vietnam’s position on the world’s stage of fashion.
With the participation of 12 talented Vietnamese designers together with 8 leading courtiers from Italy, Australia, France and Indonesia the fashion week was evaluated as  a “feast of fashion”, intriguing most fashion enthusiasts.

Vietnamese designer Phuong My, who has been breaking into the fashion scenes in New York, San Francisco and Tokyo, opened the week with 50 minimalist designs in her new collection "Reflection." French designer Julien Fournié threw into the catwalk some Sahara desert breezes with his latest collection "First Initiation."

Designs by other young Vietnamese brought a great surprise to viewers and created imprints for the event. Designer Thuy Nguyen found a source of inspiration from famous paintings about women by famed Vietnamese painters like Le Pho, Tran Van Can to create the collection called “Lung Lieng” that highlights the beauty of Asian women through familiar images of the northern countryside like headscarves, red brassieres and lotus flowers.

Designer  Vincent Doan displayed his collection, “San ho do” (Red Coral) which seemed like a glamorous picture of the ocean. It took ingenuity to combine the three colours of white, moss-green and red on designs.

Hoang Lan, a viewer, acknowledged that the designs at fashion week showed signature styles of designers and were highly applicable to life. She believed that Vietnam has now a generation of young talented designers.
