VABIOTECH - a leading vaccine manufacturer in Vietnam

After two decades of development, VABIOTECH is now one of the leading companies in researching, manufacturing and trading vaccines and biological products in Vietnam.
VABIOTECH was certified ISO 9001:2008 by the Quality Management Board (QMS) of Australia.
When Vietnam recorded its first case of COVID-19 in early 2020, the company collaborated with the UK’s University of Bristol to do research on a potential viral-vector-based vaccine against SARS-CoV-2.

According to Do Tuan Dat, president and director general of VABIOTECH, the company has done research into the production of a potential COVID-19 vaccine and tested the vaccine on mice with positive results.

The scientists have installed the SARS-CoV-2 virus antigen into the potential vaccine. The antigen in the vaccine will help the human body produce active antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, avoiding the risk of infection. This is an important raw ingredient for vaccine production.

VABIOTECH continues to meet GMP-WHO for the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine line, pure inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine, recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine, Oral cholera vaccine and a Vaccine bottle filling line.

Before 2000, VABIOTECH had the name The Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No.1 which was part of The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE). Although it was a difficult time for Vietnam at the beginning of the integration period, the company had significant achievements in producing vaccines to provide immunization across the country.

In 1996, the company simultaneously won three VIFOTECH awards for vaccines that include first prize for Japanese Encephalitis, second prize for Hepatitis B and third prize for Oral cholera. In 2000, the company was renamed VABIOTECH, operated by the Ministry of Health, marking a new development step in strategy and vision.

VABIOTECH has achieved the standards of good practices including GLP, GSP, GDP in vaccine production. In the future, VABIOTECH will make efforts to become the leading company in researching, manufacturing and trading of vaccines in Southeast Asia.
