PetroVietnam - Energy for National Development

In 2014, although both global and domestic economies had not yet completely recovered and crude oil prices plunged too low which was unusual, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) made great efforts to overcome tremendous challenges and difficulties to fulfill its tasks and set targets, ensuring energy security for national development.

This year, the group’s oil and gas reverses reached 48.11 million tonnes of oil; signed six new oil and gas contracts and four agreements; discovered 9 new oil and gas fields; and started exploiting 8 new oil and gas fields. The total productivity of oil and gas was 27.58 million tonnes; electricity output was 16.48 billion kWh; fertilizer production was 1.64 million tonnes and petrol production was 5.71 million tonnes.

Thanks to achievements in production and trade, the group’s total revenue increased to 745.5 trillion dong, equivalent to 111.8% of the plan and it contributed to the State budget over 178 trillion dong,  exceeding 37.6 trillion dong above the plan.

The group has put forward 10 key resolution groups to complete and fulfill its tasks and targets set in 2015. The group has especially focused on searching, exploring and mining oil and gas in deep water and offshore areas and contributed to affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty and protecting the nation’s sovereignty in the East Sea.
