Ho Chi Minh City today

After the liberation of southern Vietnam in 1975, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) started its rebuilding. After 45 years, the city has reached fruitful achievements, including impressive construction and a new appearance. 
Covering 2,000km2, Ho Chi Minh City is now the largest economic hub in Vietnam and has generated 22% of the GDP with more than 10 million citizens.

Seen from above, Saigon looks more wonderful at sunrise, sunset or at night under lights. Vietnam Pictorial would like introduce a dynamic and vigorous Ho Chi Minh City through the photos of photographer Giang Son Dong.

Built in 1864, Nha Rong port is a historic and cultural relic which attracts numerous visitors to Ho Chi Minh City.

Photographer Giang Son Dong was born in 1973 in An Dong commune, An Duong district, Hai Phong. He lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City.

Son Dong was known as a photographer in 2017. He won domestic and international awards for photography such as the VAPA silver medal at the 9th International Artistic Photo Contest in Vietnam 2017, the VAPA bronze medal 2018 and the second prize of the “Vietnam from above” contest 2019.
