With an average annual growth rate of 40% for nearly 30 years, Phu Thai Group has become Vietnam’s leading distribution and retail group and a reliable and prestigious partner of many large groups around the world. 

Phu Thai Group was established in 1993, only one year after the Law on Private Enterprises took effect in Vietnam. After about 30 years of development, Phu Thai has now 30 units, including member companies, distribution centres and logistic warehouses which are run by an international management system, advanced administrative software and a staff of both domestic and foreign employees. The group now has a distribution and retail system in all provinces nationwide. The key to the success of the group lies in its rapid change and competence during the process of integration.

Pham Dinh Doan,  the founder of the group, is known as one of the first successful Vietnamese businessman of the Vietnamese business community. Now only a few businessmen of his generation continues to be successful and Doan is one of them. To drive the group to overcome tremendous difficulties in the initial growth period, Doan decided to go his own way, different from others at that time, and he was successful.

Goods are transported from the group’s storage facilities to distributors and retail shops.  Packages of goods are stamped and checked with modern machines. . Electric rice cookers and household utensils are major products distributed by the group. Rice cooker branded Cuckoo from South Korea distributed by Phu Thai is sought much after by customers.

Talking about his start as a businessman, Pham Dinh Doan who once worked in the scientific field, said,  “While I was studying abroad, I met many successful businessmen in the distribution and retail sectors and I saw my future in this field”.

During the time he started his business, the distribution and retail field was  completely new in Vietnam. However, it was his confidence, determination and sound policy together with a new favourable trade mechanism and environment of Vietnam that  helped bring great success to the group.
