Vietnam cultural festival in full swing in RoK

The 8th Vietnam cultural festival took place in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on September 1, attracting thousands of Vietnamese expatriates, local residents, and foreign tourists.

The event is an annual activity hosted by the Association of Vietnamese in the RoK. This year, it featured performances by Vietnamese artists, Vietnamese folk games and food, and a fashion show.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Cam, Chairwoman of the association, said the relations between Vietnam and the RoK are growing robustly based on their strategic partnership and mutual understanding, adding that bilateral cultural and people-to-people exchanges have also enhanced over time.

She hoped the festival will help the expat community and Korean people to get together and understand more about Vietnam.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tu said the event reflects the close friendship between the two countries and their people, while celebrating the nations’ 27 years diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic cooperative partnership.

He expressed his belief that with support from the two governments, the Vietnamese communities in the RoK will make significant contribution to socio-economic progress in both countries.

Trade between Vietnam and the RoK reached 65.7 billion USD in 2018. The RoK is now the biggest foreign investor in Vietnam with more than 7,600 projects worth over 63 billion USD.

Currently, there are more than 200,000 Vietnamese expatriates living in the RoK.-VNA/VNP

Religious freedom must not be separated from civic responsibility

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly rejected what it calls “unobjective and inaccurate” claims in various reports. Most recently on March 4, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) released its 2025 Annual Report on international religious freedom, which gave biased allegations about the religious situation in Vietnam.
