Vietnam’s national football squad welcomed in Indonesia

Vietnamese national footballers and their head coach Park Hang-seo arrived at Indonesia’s Ngurah Rai International Airport on October 11 to prepare for a World Cup 2020 qualifier match against the hosts.

They were welcomed at the airport by Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Pham Vinh Quang and his spouse, the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country.

Vinh congratulated the Vietnamese team and Park on their fresh victory over Malaysia, and expressed his hope that they will reap more achievements, especially in the match against Indonesia at Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium on October 15.

The whole country and the Vietnamese community in Indonesia always give the wholehearted support to the team, he said.

While in Indonesia, the Vietnamese players will stay at Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort, Bali, about 30km from the airport.

At a working session on October 9 with the Vietnamese ambassador, Indonesian police said they have prepared methods to ensure security for the upcoming match as well as Vietnamese and Indonesian teams, and guest fans.

Vietnam beat Malaysia 1-0 in the World Cup 2022’s second qualifying round at the Hanoi-based My Dinh National Stadium on October 10.

The only goal was scored by striker Nguyen Quang Hai in the 28th minute.

This was Vietnam’s first home win in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers after their earlier draw with Thailand.
