Poor ethnic minorities in Phu Yen aided to build houses

Phu Yen, April 17 (VNA) – Five disadvantaged households of the ethnic minority group in Ea Bar and Ea Ba communes in the south central province of Phu Yen’s Song Hinh district have received a total grant of 200 million VND (8,810 USD) to build houses.

The financial assistance was handed over to the recipients by a delegation from the Steering Committee for the Central Highlands on April 17.

Deputy head of the committee Dieu K’re said the agency always pays attention to the lives of local ethnic minority people.

He asked the local authorities to deliver more support to the groups, particularly in restructuring farming models, escaping poverty, and preventing early marriage.

Dieu K’re stressed that Ea Bar and Ea Ba communes need to strengthen forest management, protection and development, especially upstream forests and forests between Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces.
