Hanoi builds dossier to join UNESCO Creative Cities Network

The Hanoi People’s Committee recently issued a plan on building a ‘Hanoi - creative city’ dossier to apply to join the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports is tasked to join hands with the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, the UNESCO Office in Hanoi and relevant agencies to build the dossier.

The offices will conduct survey, gather documents and statistics of the city in various fields such as culture, architecture and education, among others; as well as arrange workshops and symposiums to collect opinions from Vietnamese and foreign scientists and experts.

The dossier is set to complete before June 28. A Hanoi delegation will participate in a session announcing the result in France in November.

Created in 2004, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network fosters international cooperation within and across cities of the world that have invested in culture and creativity as an accelerator of sustainable development.
