Filipino racer wins second stage of VTV cycling tourney

Thanh Hoa, Sept. 3 (VNA) – The annual VTV International Cycling Tournament – Ton Hoa Sen Cup – entered the second stage from Hanoi to central Thanh Hoa province on September 3 with a Philippine cyclist being the first to cross the finish line. 

After nearly three hours, Jan Paul Morales from the Philippines was the first to finish the 151km stage. He was followed by Changpad Kristada of Infinite Ais Cycling Team and Juin Jang of Korail Cycle Team. 

Vietnam’s Le Van Duan was among the three best athletes in the sprints in Ha Nam province, Ninh Binh province and Ha Trung district of Thanh Hoa. 

The third stage, from Thanh Hoa city to Vinh city of central Nghe An province, will take place on September 4. 

This year’s VTV International Cycling Tournament, beginning on September 2, features 14 stages with total length of over 1,600km from the north to the south of Vietnam. 

It attracted 84 cyclists from seven Vietnamese teams and other teams of the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands and Singapore. 

The tournament will end in Ho Chi Minh City on September 17.

Among the ballots used at the congress were three featuring posters of President Ho Chi Minh and one bearing an image depicting the Vietnamese people engaged in production during the period of resistance against foreign aggression. The latter also carried the inscriptions “80th Anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day” and “33rd National Congress of the PCU".
