Self-Massage to Prevent Dyslipidemia

Dyslipidemia means the concentration of cholesterol, triglyceride and cholesterol of lipoprotein with low density (LDL-C) which increases more than the normal one, or cholesterol of lipoprotein with high density (HDL-C) which is lowered rather than merely permitted or combined. The disease tends to increase the effects and to cause atherosclerosis.

To regulate dyslipidemia, many combined measures are applied, including moderating the diet, taking physical exercises, using nourishing Qi Gong and taking medicines. However, among traditional Oriental medicine therapies, there is a simple one that brings high effectiveness, the massaging and pressing on some acupuncture points (acupoints).

Below are some common therapies to prevent dyslipidemia.
* Massaging the belly: lie face up, breathe slowly and make the whole body relaxed; Use two hands, putting one on the other, to massage the belly clockwise for two minutes with an appropriate force so that the belly gets warm.
* Pressing on the Noi quan point: Use the thumb to press on the Noi quan point for two minutes. How to locate the Noi quan point: raise the hand upward and towards the arm to reveal the line of the large and small veins in the palm. Noi quan point is located in the middle of these veins and 2 cuns from the wrist.
* Pressing on the Khuc tri point: Use the thumb to press on the Khuc tri point for two minutes. How to locate the Khuc tri point: Draw the elbow towards the arm. Khuc tri point is located at the wrinkle of the elbow fold. Press Khuc tri point with both hands.
* Pressing on the Thu tam ly point: Use the thumb to press on the Thu tam ly for two minutes. Thu tam ly point is located two cuns below the Khuc tri point.
* Pressing on the Tuc tam ly point: Use the thumb or the middle finger to press on the Tuc tam ly for five minutes. How to locate the Tuc tam ly point: Find the shin-bone, go upwards from the ankle to the knee joint, and where the finger gets locked is the convex of the shin-bone. From here, one finger aside is the location of the Tuc tam ly point. When pressing on this point, the patient has a feeling of numbness that goes down to the foot. This point is of great importance in regulating dyslipidemia, and has been put into experimental and clinical research.
* Pressing the Giai khe point: Use the thumb or the middle finger to press on the Giai khe point for two minutes. How to locate the Giai khe point: Sit up straight, then shake the foot up and down. This will reveal the front tendon of the leg and the stretching tendon of the big toe. Giai khe lies on the concave point, above the front wrinkle of the ankle fold.
* Pressing on the Tam am giao point: Use the thumb to press on the Tam am giao point for two minutes. Three cuns above the inside ankle and right behind the shin-bone is the location of the Tam am giao point.
* Massaging the legs: Put two hands on two sides of the leg, then do a reverse roll from up to down, then vice versa, for two minutes. Massage the leg with an appropriate force for one minute. Apply the same moves with the other leg.
To gain the best result, the therapy must be applied regularly and correctly twice a day (in the morning and afternoon).
