Recently, an art programme themed “Mekong Colours” took place at the White Palace in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of artists from five countries of Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to mark the 10th International Travel Expo – Ho Chi Minh City.
For a long time, the Mekong River has been an important part of the life, customs and culture of people from five countries who all stand together and support each other because they share many similarities on spiritual and material things. Therefore, these countries make an effort to reach a common target of development and prosperity.
The art programme showed the five countries’ common target when it started with a concert of traditional music and folk dances from the five nations.

The traditional dance “Phoo Pwit Wai Sar Pyi” by Myanmar’s artists reflected mutli-colour cultures of this country and the “Khan Khaw” dance reproduced the images of Thai women working in green fields.
Vietnam, the host country, contributed to the art programme with a potpourri of “Nam xuan-Nam dao” reflecting the lives of people from the south and Non dances.
The “Mekong Colours” programme aimed at not only promoting tourism cooperation and the development of the five countries but also popularizing the common image of the nations in the Mekong-sub region to draw a large number of tourists worldwide.
