In Vietnamese fashion circles, Spanish designer Diego Cortizas del Valle is famous for using Vietnamese silk to create his brand name, Chula. However, he surprised the public when presenting a new collection of cotton designs at the Vietnam Spring – Summer Fashion Week 2016.
Talking about his change in material, the designer said that cotton is not as soft as and more difficult to design than silk, but he felt like experimenting with a new material to renew his designs and vary his style.
Keeping his inspiration from Ao dai of Vietnam, designer Diego Cortizas del Valle fascinated viewers with a colourful cotton collection which was shown on the catwalk with Vietnamese traditional toys such as masks, star lanterns and small drums.

Nhat Thuc's latest “Quy” show is inspired by the tortoise, one of the four sacred mythical creatures - the dragon, the kylin, the tortoise and the phoenix, central to Southeast Asian mythology and symbolizing good fortune.
