Show features traditional Vietnamese, Korean costumes in HCM City

HCM City, November 19 (VNA) – Hundreds of traditional costumes of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea were displayed on the walking street of Nguyen Hue in HCM City on November 18. 

The event was part of activities of the ongoing Ho Chi Minh City – Gyeongju World Cultural Festival 2017 in the city. 

Locals and tourists had a chance to contemplate the traditional, yet modern Vietnamese Ao Dai (long dress) by Vietnamese designers, namely Sy Hoang, Thuan Viet, Dinh Van Tho; and Korean Hanbok dress by Lee Young-hee. 

Addressing at the event, Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Thanh Nhan, said the exchange helps designers of the two nations have an insight of the history and culture of each nations, thus consolidating the friendship between the two countries. 

The Gyeonju World Cultural Festival, opened on November 11 is jointly hosted by HCM City and Korean Gyeongsangbuk-Do province for the first time, with numerous activities. 

The event is expected to help foster cultural exchanges between the two nations, thus deepening the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK, as well as the collaboration between HCM City and RoK’s localities.
