Photo exhibition celebrates International Women’ Day

An exhibition of photographs taken by female members of the Ho Chi Minh City Photographers’ Association is open to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.

The 7th exhibition, themed Que Huong Qua Ong Kinh Nhiep Anh Nu (Country through the Lens of Female Artists), displays 120 black-and-white and colour images of 40 female artists. The underlying theme is “women and love”.

The photos were selected from hundreds of images of landscapes, daily life, and ethnic minority women and children in remote areas across the country.

Highlighted works include Ra Dong (Working on the Field) by Pham Thi Kim Thanh, Hanh Phuc Cua Me (Happy Mom) by Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Thac Ban Gioc (Ban Gioc Waterfall) by Dinh Thi Kim Lan and Qua Cua Bien (Gift from the Sea) by Nguyen Thi Sin. They feature rural people and women in traditional clothes working at home and in the fields.

Established in 1981, the association includes hundreds of female artists from different backgrounds in the city.

The club’s female members have organised many solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad, and have released many photo books to introduce Vietnam and its culture and lifestyle to people around the world.

The exhibition will run through March 10.
