Lac Hong team triumphs at Robocon Vietnam 2018

The LH-ATM team from Lac Hong University in the southern province of Dong Nai won the 2018 Vietnam Robot Contest (Robocon Vietnam) after defeating another team from the same university – LH-Galaxy – during the final game in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on May 13.

Besides a cash award of 50 million VND and a trophy, the winning team became the representative of Vietnam to take part in the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon), which is slated for August 26 in the northern province of Ninh Binh.

The LH-Galaxy came second, while the third prizes were presented to two teams – SKH4 from Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, and VTEC-SUMMER from Vinh Phuc College of Technology. A number of auxiliary prizes were also presented.

Themed “Throwing con”, a popular folk game among northern ethnic minority people during festivals, in which players throw a ball made from cloth through a ring on top of a 15-20m tall bamboo pole, the contest saw the competition of 32 teams from 10 universities and colleges nationwide.

Vietnam has won the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest six times. The championships were claimed by Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology in 2002, 2004 and 2006, while Lac Hong University won in 2014 and 2017, and Hung Yen University of Technology and Education took the title in 2015.
