HCM City trials digital signboards at bus stops

HCM City, Sept. 3 (VNA) - Digital signboards displaying bus numbers, arrival time and remaining distance have been installed on a trial basis at two Ho Chi Minh City’s bus stops on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and An Duong Vuong Street.

They are the first of their kind in Vietnam.

According to the Department of Transport’s Management and Operation Centre for Public Transport, if the month-long trial is successful, more of the signs would be installed throughout the city.

The department is also considering simplifying the route maps at bus stops, only listing buses passing through the particular stop instead of the entire city route map.

Bus stops are set to be remodelled with wheelchair ramps and handles to make them more accessible to disabled people.
