HCM City, Nagasaki prefecture promote student exchange

Ho Chi Minh City wants to enhance the student exchange programme with the Japanese prefecture of Nagasaki, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem.

The official made the statement while receiving Takushima Toshio, President of the Industry and Trade Association of Nagasaki prefecture on May 10.

Lauding the initiative to organise the exchange programme for students of the two localities, Liem thanked the association for supporting students from HCM City in the 2016-2017 school year.

He also voiced his hope that the programme will enable more students of HCM City to come to Nagasaki this year, thus promoting the relationship between the two localities.

In 2018, HCM City wants to join hands with Japanese localities to arrange cultural activities on the occasion of the 40th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties, Liem said.

He also asked for the association’s support in student exchange and cooperation programmes to improve the quality of the city’s human resources.

In reply, Takushima Toshio said he was happy to see that HCM City sent two delegations of teachers and students to Nagasaki for exchange and study with Japanese students.

He stressed that Nagasaki hopes to receive HCM City’s support for long-term student exchange programme between the two localities, with a view to deepening bilateral links in various fields such as economy, culture and trade in the future.
