Founded in 2006, the Quintet features some of Vietnam’s most accomplished professional musicians who are teachers from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and performers in the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra. They include Le Thu Huong (Flute), Phan Viet Cuong (Oboe), Kim Xuan Hieu (Cor), Tran KhanhQuang (Clarinet) and Van Thanh Ha (Bassoon).
In 2007, they attended a special concert training course at the Malmö Academy of Music in Sweden under the instruction of Prof. AsgerSvendsenthat provided them with an opportunity to learn and exchange experiences with other orchestras and show international friends the development of western music in Vietnam. For years, they have performed at many domestic and international music festivals, such as in Japan, the US, France, Germany and Denmark and received many accolades from the audiences.

Le Thu Huong, the only female member of the Fantasia Wind Quintet, said: “The flute creates high tone colour because its sounds are diverse, sometimes high and low. When performing, I concentrate completely on my performance”. According to Phan Viet Cuong, the harmonious combination of different musical instruments together withthe idiosyncrasy of each artist, the quintet fascinates music lovers with fantastic pieces of music.
Recently, the Fantasia Wind Quintet staged a special concert at Manzi Art Space at 14 Phan Huy Ich, Hanoi, featuring musical compositions from the romantic, classic and contemporary eras.The concert created an open and intimate atmosphere with the audience, with the musicians talking about their work and the instruments./.
