At the contest, hairstylists from the Thai Nguyen Hair Association, Toc Bien Club, Song Han Hair Club in Da Nang, Lam Son Beautiful Hair Club in Thanh Hoa, Hair and Life Club and Vietnam Beautiful Hair Club introduced to viewers collections of unique and new hairstyles with diverse themes, such as “Impression”, “Evening party”, “Moments of the Han River in the past and present”, “Past and present”, “Spring walk” and “Converging Quiescence” respectively.
The delicate colour combination and daring performing techniques of talented hairstylists helped stimulate viewer’s imaginations. For example, the hairstyle with bright yellow or red colour expressed the aspiration of youth and spring and some hairstyles were designed with modern urban architectural styles.
According to the organizing board, the event presented the spirit “Respect teachers, respect morality” and “When drinking water, remember its source” of those who work in this field. The contest also provided a chance for hairstylists to exchange and introduce new trends and techniques of hair design and particularly it helped discover young talented hairstylists.
 

Looking back at the history of Vietnam’s hair fashion, Vietnamese women in the past with their artistic sense and experience knew how to beautify their hair naturally in simple styles, such as rolling the hair and gathering the hair into a bun. However, their thinking and conception about hair beauty changed with the passing of time. Between 1930 and 1940 when western hairstyles of French women started appearing in Vietnam and when the living standard gradually improved, the demand of beautifying the hair increased. To meet the demands of people, tens of thousands of hair salons have mushroomed throughout the country in recent years. Hairstylists have studied and researched to create new fashionable hairstyles that still retain the beautiful and distinctive feature of the hair of Vietnamese people. Many of them have obtained great success in both domestic and foreign contests, making a contribution to the development of Vietnam’s hair fashion industry.
