Within the framework of Hue Festival 2014, an Ao dai show themed “The World of Vietnamese Ao dai” took place on a splendid stage in the Imperial City of Hue. On the catwalk, about 600 Ao dai designs of 18 designers nationwide which showed patterns of many countries around the world were worn by 100 famous Vietnamese models, leaving a long lasting impression on audiences.
The Ao dai performance was a perennial highlight of the annual Hue Festival with the participation offamousVietnamese designers, such as Quang Huy, Thuong Huyen, Duc Hai, Vu Viet Ha, Si Hoang, Minh Hanh, Cong Khanh, Viet Bao, Ngoc Han and Lan Huong who created impressive collections.
According to Designer Minh Hanh, the show’s stage manager, 18 nations in the world were selected to become the topics for the designers. Therefore, the fashion collections were diverse in styles, showing the cultural features and beauty of each country, such as tulip flowers of the Netherlands in Lan Huong’s collection and Matryoshka dolls and the Kremlin of Russia in Quang Huy’s collection.
The Ao dai show was one of the most impressive, unique and imposing events of the Hue Festival. It not only honoured the beauty of the Vietnamese Ao dai and endless creativeness of designers, but also showed the cultures of other countries in the world.
