The program “Diem mot thoi” (One-Time Point) recently held at the Ao dai Exhibition on Nguyen Hue Street in Ho Chi Minh City impressed viewers with a combined performance of fashion designs and folk music which promote Vietnamese traditional cultural values.
The striking feature of this year’s event was two parades of Ao dai designs of the 17th century and late 20th century and a collection of original and reproduced costumes of 54 ethnic groups, such as the Tay, Nung, Dao and Thai. Attending the show, viewers also had real experiences when seeing lively scenes and enjoying rural food.
Designer Si Hoang said: “The program was held from 2002-2007. During that period, we received many diplomats and foreigners who wanted to learn about Vietnam’s culture. However, when we focused on building a museum of Ao dai, we halted the program. Now that the museum is stable, we have brought the program back to raise Vietnamese culture to a new level”.
“One-Time Point” takes place every night at the Ao dai Exhibition, No.77 Nguyen Hue Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It has now become a tourism product that attracts more tourists to the city.
