“40 Years of Wool in Fashion” Show

The two night fashion show entitled “40 Years of Wool in Fashion” which took place at the White Palace Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City and the Daewoo Hotel, Hanoi in October 2013 introduced to the public 40 outstanding wool designs in the world. The fashion show was one of the activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties.
The show hosted by the Woolmark Company, Australia’s leading company in wool fashion, started with designs from the Darnell collection by Australian designer Doris Darnell which showed the evolution of wool in fashion during the past 40 years. In each period, wool fashion had different styles and trends. For example, the lavender floral designs in the vintage style of Yves Saint Laurent (France) and Emilio Pucci (Italy) were the most favourite during the 70s, whereas, those by designers Missoni (Italy) and Zandra Rhodes (UK) were much sought after during the 80s. However, until the 90s, wool fashion had a strong breakthrough with designs by Sonia Rykiel and Comme des Garcons (France). Since 2000, the fashion lovers have seen a mixture of different trends and diversified styles of wool fashion through designs by Rena Lange (Italy).
