Work starts on infirmary on Song Tu Tay Island

Hanoi, April 14 (VNA)- The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) has commenced work on an infirmary in the Song Tu Tay Island commune in central Khanh Hoa province .

Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony on April 12, Chairman of the VGCL Dang Ngoc Tung highlighted that the initiative is a part of a series of activities to commemorate significant anniversaries in 2015, including the 40th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, the 40th anniversary of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago Liberation and the 60 th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Navy.

He affirmed that the trade unions always work alongside soldiers and people on the island to safeguard the national sovereignty.

Over the past years, the VGCL has organised activities to help improve local living conditions, such as the establishment of fishery associations in 28 coastal provinces, programmes supporting offshore fishermen.

The chairman praised the efforts of soldiers and people on the island in overcoming difficulties and hoped they would do their utmost to build and safeguard the nation’s sea and island sovereignty.
