VN-US comprehensive partnership develops fruitfully: spokesperson

The Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership is developing fruitfully across spheres, covering national defence and security, the Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said on July 25.

Responding to reporters’ query on the new US Secretary of Defence, Hang said: “We hope that the new US Secretary of Defence will make significant contribution to the Vietnam-US relations, especially in the sphere of national defence.”

Mark Esper was sworn in as US Secretary of Defence after receiving Senate confirmation on July 23, according to foreign media.
