Vietnamese weightlifter wins gold in junior world championships

Hanoi, June 20 (VNA) - Lai Gia Thanh brought home one gold and two silver medals at the ongoing IWF Junior World Championships in Japan. 

Thanh won a gold medal in the clean and jerk category with his achievement of 140kg. In the snatch, he lifted 109kg to gain a silver medal. 

In the total lift, he took a silver medal for 249kg. Wang Hao of China won a gold medal with 258kg and Hiroyuki Mashiko of Japan took the bronze with 244kg. 

A total of 265 (108 women and 157 men) athletes from 50 countries took part in the competition.
