Vietnamese students win four gold medals at int’l science contest

Vietnamese students won four gold medals at the first International Science Competition 2018 (ISC 2018) recently held in Malaysia, announced Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training.

The delegation comprised 16 teams with 60 students from three Hanoi secondary schools, namely Trung Vuong, Ngo Si Lien and Nguyen Du.

All Vietnamese students earned prizes in the contest’s individual category, including four gold, nine silver, 24 bronze medals and 23 consolation prizes.

The four students that won gold were Dang Huu Hoang Nguyen and Trinh Dieu Linh of Trung Vuong secondary school and Nguyen Le Ha Anh and Le Thao Linh of Ngo Si Lien secondary school.

In the team category, seven of the 16 Vietnamese teams pocketed two golds, two silvers and three bronzes.

The ISC 2018 was held by the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Educational Innovation Development, in collaboration with the Malaysian Education Department, for students under 13 years old and under 16 years old across the world.

The competition, which took place in Penang, Malaysia on November 24-27, drew the participation of 105 students from Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and host Malaysia.

The ISC 2018 provides a platform for students to learn from each other and develop their knowledge and interests in science and technology, with their performance benchmarked against standardised assessment criteria that are recognised globally.
