Vietnam reports 45th COVID-19 infection case

The Ministry of Health on March 13 afternoon confirmed the 45th COVID-19 infection case who had close contact with the 34th patient in the south central province of Binh Thuan.

The latest patient, residing in ward 7 in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh district, had his sample tested positive for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 by the HCM City Pasteur Institute.

He had previously worked and had a dinner with the 34th patient – a 51 year-old Vietnamese woman in Binh Thuan province – and her husband on March 3.

The patient returned to HCM City on March 4 on his own car together with three other people.

After the 34th patient was confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 on March 10, he quarantined himself at his home.

On March 12, he got a medical check-up after suffering snuffles and a sore throat and was taken to a concentrated quarantine area in Tan Binh district. Afterward, the patient was brought to Cu Chi hospital of acute respiratory disease for treatment and is now in stable health condition.

His samples were tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by both the HCM City Hospital of Tropical Diseases and the HCM City Pasteur Institute.

Of the 45 COVID-19 cases reported in Vietnam so far, 16 were successfully cured and discharged from hospitals./.

The latter also carried the inscriptions “80th Anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day” and “33rd National Congress of the PCU".
