Vietnam, Myanmar celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations

Hanoi, May 28 (VNA) – A ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Myanmar was held in Hanoi on May 27.

Addressing the event, Chairman of the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association Chu Cong Phung gave the participants an overview of the friendship between the two countries over the past 40 years.

He added that both sides have enjoyed remarkable outcomes in a wide range of fields, including politics, the economy, trade and culture, since the establishment of diplomatic ties in on May 28, 1975.

Phung expressed his hope that the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations would be further developed in the time to come.

The Ambassador of Myanmar to Vietnam Win Hlaing stated that the two countries have nurtured their traditional friendship and efficient cooperation over the past 40 years.

He also hailed Vietnam’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations through the establishment of the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association.
