Vietnam joined 12 other countries on the management board of the Asian Coffee Association (ACA) which was officially established on November 27 in Mangshi city, capital of Dehong autonomous prefecture, China’s Yunnan province.

The other members of the board are China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Chinese delegate Xiong Xiangren, who was elected president of the association, said that the ACA will make efforts to devise standards, form pricing mechanisms, support brands, and expand Asian coffee culture.

ACA members can exchange information and resources and the ACA welcomes collaboration from countries both inside and outside the region, he stressed.

The association, initiated by more than 20 Asian countries in 2015, was registered in Colombo, Sri Lanka in July, 2017. Its only representative office is in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

With a large population and growing coffee consumption, Asia is expected to become a new engine for the global coffee industry.
