Vietnam in Group 4 for FIFA U20 World Cup

Hanoi, March 15 (VNA) - FIFA has announced the seeds for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup draw in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Vietnam are in Group 4 with Ecuador, South Africa, Iran, Guinea and Vanuatu.

Group 1 consists of the Republic of Korea, Portugal, Uruguay, France, the US and Germany. Group 2 includes Mexico, Argentina, New Zealand, Senegal, Japan and Costa Rica, while Zambia, Honduras, England, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Venezuela are in Group 3.

The draw for the RoK event will take place on March 15. After Japan and Mexico, the RoK is the third nation to have hosted all of FIFA Men’s international competitions, namely the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the 2001 Confederations Cup and the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup.

The competition will begin on May 20 with the final scheduled for June 11.

To prepare for the Cup, Vietnam will convene in Nha Trang on March 21.

Looking ahead, the two sides agreed to enhance practical and effective cooperation, focusing on delegation exchanges, maintaining consultation and dialogue mechanisms, especially the Defence Policy Dialogue, and promoting existing cooperation models such as exchanges among young officers, military women, twinning programmes between military units and local communities, and annual conferences between military regions, and border guard forces of the two countries.
