Vietnam falls in world women’s football ranking

Hanoi, March 29 (VNA) - Vietnam women’s football team dropped one place to finish No 33 in the world ranking for the first quarter of 2017.

The team played no matches in the first three months of the year.

Vietnam is No 7 in Asia and second in the Southeast Asia, ranking behind Thailand which is world No 29.

The team is training in Hanoi to prepare for the 2018 Asian championship, which starts next week here.

Vietnam is in Group D with Myanmar, Iran, Syria and Singapore.

They will compete in a round robin format, with the best contender advancing to the finals.

The tournament will wrap up on April 11.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President To Lam will attend the high-level general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and hold bilateral activities in the US before paying a state visit to Canada from September 20 to 25, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang told the ministry’s regular press briefing on September 17.
