Vietnam Days launched in the Netherlands

Hague, September 24 (VNA) – The “Vietnam Days in the Netherlands” kicked off in The Hague on September 23 with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, who is currently on a working visit.

Addressing the event, the Deputy PM stressed the importance of the two countries’ bilateral relations, particularly since their strategic partnership on climate change adaptation, water resource management, agriculture and food security was established.

He expressed his belief that the four-day event would help improve the two countries’ relationship, intensify mutual understanding between their people and businesses, and boost connections between ministries and localities.

After the opening ceremony, Vietnamese artists performed traditional and modern Vietnamese music as well as Dutch songs, accompanied by traditional Vietnamese instruments.

Earlier, the Deputy PM met Amsterdam’s Mayor E.E Van der Laan who affirmed the city’s commitment to enhancing multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnamese localities, Hanoi in particular, on urban planning and management, infrastructure upgrades, trade, and education and training.

He took the occasion to invite Vietnamese representatives to attend the International Water Week, scheduled for October 2015.

Deputy PM Hai said the Vietnamese Government always pays attention to boosting its comprehensive cooperation with the Netherlands and Amsterdam in particular.

He welcomed the Mayor’s visit to Hanoi in December, believing that it will contribute to the realisation of agreements signed by the two cities’ leaders in education, urban management, water supply, and waste treatment.
