Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Assoc. seeks to expand role

Can Tho, July 6 (VNA) – In an effort to expand its role and promote friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA) organised a meeting with the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region (SCSR) on June 6 in Can Tho City.

Vu Vuong Viet, Vice President of the VCFA said the goal of the meeting was to seek the steering committee’s assistance in expanding the association’s network in southwest localities and developing ties with southern Cambodia provinces.

The two sides discussed and agreed on the coordination agenda and pledged to work closely in order to offer advice or recommendations to central agencies on cementing ties among provinces from the two countries.

The two agencies would coordinate in many sectors such as training labourers for Cambodia, addressing arising problems relating to Vietnamese communities in Cambodia or conducting research on Khmer issues in the southern region.

The VCFA was formed in 1975 and has expanded to 30 provinces and cities with hundreds of thousands of members.
