Vietnam, Australia boost links in combating crime

Sydney, December 13 (VNA) – Minister of Public Security To Lam and Troy Grant, Minister of Police and Justice of Australia’s New South Wales state agreed to expand cooperation between the two agencies in fighting crimes at their meeting in Sydney on December 13.

The cooperation will focus on the sharing and verification of criminal information, the extradition of wanted persons, and investigation of transnational organised crimes, particularly those in drug and human trafficking, and cyber security.
 
The ministries will also work together on professional and foreign language training for law enforcement officers, and in fire-fighting, search and rescue, and prison management.

Minister To Lam said Vietnam appreciates the support provided by Australia in general and the New South Wales state in particular for Vietnam’s national defence and development.

On the occasion, he congratulated the state on the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the local women police force.

The same day, Minister To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Australian Coast Guard Maritime Academy.
