Vietnam Airlines to add flights to Malaysia to serve football fans

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will operate more flights from the country’ major cities to Kuala Lumpur on December 11 to serve football fans who want to travel to Malaysia to cheer on the Vietnamese national team in the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final.

The carrier will run an additional one or two flights for each route linking Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang with the Malaysian capital.

Together with one normal flight for each route, Vietnam Airlines will provide a total of more than 1,100 seats on flights from Vietnam to Malaysia on this day.

The added flights, using Airbus A321 planes, are scheduled to depart from Vietnam in the morning and return in the evening of the same day.

The carrier will work with several travel agents to devise travel packages on the day, which will include flight and match tickets, a tour guide and transport to the stadium.

Vietnam entered the finals of the ASEAN Federation Football (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2018 after defeating the Philippines 2-1 in the return leg of the semifinal, which took place at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium on December 6.

The squad beat the Philippines 2-1 in the first leg held in Bacolod city of the Philippines four days before.

The final first leg between Vietnam and Malaysia will take place in Kuala Lumpur on December 11, and the return leg will be held four days later at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium.
