US-DPRK Summit 2019: DPRK, US leaders to continue productive dialogues

Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump agreed to continue productive dialogues on denuclearisation and improvement in bilateral relations, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

According to the agency, Chairman Kim and President Trump expressed their confidence that they can make epochal improvement in the DPRK-US relations if they hold hands firmly and exercise wisdom and patience, although there are many unavoidable obstacles ahead.

DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho said at a press conference on February 28 midnight that the DPRK had offered to dismantle its Yongbyon nuclear plant in exchange for partial sanctions relief. However, the US was not ready to accept the proposal.

The minister said this is a “realistic proposal” and it will never change in the future even if the US wants further talks.
