US-DPRK Summit 2019: China hopes DPRK-US dialogue to go on

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on February 28 that it hopes dialogue and communications between the United States and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) will continue.

Speaking at a regular news briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said both sides had expressed sincerity at their second summit.

The meeting took place at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi in Vietnam’s capital on the same day to discuss the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.

Meanwhile, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) of the DPRK reported that on February 28 afternoon, a DPRK foreign ministry delegation, led by Vice Minister Ri Kil-song, left Vietnam for China.

Earlier, at a post-summit press conference, US President Donald Trump said that China has provided significant support for the DPRK and that during their meeting, he and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un had talked extensively about China.
