Workshop talks start-up ecology at universities

HCM City, July 7 (VNA) – The development of a start-up ecology at universities and localities is among the topics being discussed at an international workshop that opened in the Ho Chi Minh City-based Hoa Sen University on July 7.

Participants also touched upon building an ecology to encourage start-up spirit among youngsters, the Government’s role in the ecology and examples taken from foreign countries.

Domestic and foreign researchers, investors and entrepreneurs shared initiatives and experience in rolling out start-up plans successfully.

They said human resources, ideas, capital, models and suitable time are the elements deciding the success of start-ups.

However, start-up often goes with innovations and risks due to its connection with new technologies.

The workshop also underlined the important role played by universities in shaping ideas and orienting start-up plans for students.

Dr. Truong Nguyen Thanh, Deputy Rector of the Hoa Sen University, said the university has conducted various activities to promote start-up spirit among its students, including connections with businesses.

The two-day workshop is held by the Hoa Sen University, the International Vietnamese Academics Network and the Ho Chi Minh City supporting centre for youth’s start-up.
