Women’s sepak takraw team succeeds in changing medal colour

Vietnam’s female sepak takraw team on September 1 could not make a surprise against the defending champion Thailand at the women’s quadrant finals of the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018, but still reached its target of changing the medal colour. The team, including Nguyen Thi Quyen, Giap Thi Hien, Duong Thi Xuyen and Nguyen Thi Phuong Trinh, was defeated 8-21 and 10-21.

Earlier, Vietnam’s female team took a bronze medal at the women’s regu event after losing to the Republic of Korea (RoK) 0-2 in the semi-finals.

The male team also had a successful tournament when winning a bronze for this first time at the men’s quadrant event.

As of 2:30 pm of September 1, Vietnam ranked 16th in the medal tally with four gold, 16 silver and 18 bronze medals.

China still topped the list with 123 gold, 87 silver and 63 bronze medals.-VNA/VNP
