The Hanoi People’s Committee on October 10 held an award presentation ceremony for winners of an international photo contest themed “Proud of Hanoi” on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the capital.

After nine months of launching, the organisation board received 2,659 entries by 430 professional and amateur photographers from Vietnam, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Spain, the Philippines, and Japan.

Sixteen best photos won prizes at the event, including 15 taken by Vietnamese photographers and one by a Singaporean.

There were one first prize, two second and three third prizes, along with 10 consolation prizes.

This is the first international art photo contest held by Hanoi to promote the city’s history, culture and people.

The event also aims to honour Hanoi as a capital city with thousand-year-old culture and a city for peace.

As many as 106 best photos from the contest are being put on show at 45 Trang Tien street in Hanoi from October 10 to 14.
