Vietnamese restaurant chain Alagi gains foothold in RoK

The Vietnamese chain Alagi has opened its second restaurant in Seoul in June, after the first one gained popularity among locals. 

The chain was founded by Doan Ngoc Quang, who after obtaining his master’s degree from Kookmin University decided to stay in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, and started the business.

Alagi restaurant serves typical Vietnamese dishes, including pho, bun bo (noodle beef soup), bun cha (grilled pork and rice noodle) and banh mi (sandwiches).

The first Alagi restaurant opened in Dongdaemun district in September 2018, serving 120 – 150 eaters daily on average.

Inaugurated on June 11, the new restaurant lies in Seodaemun district and serves some 150 guests daily.

Currently, the RoK houses approximately 400 Vietnamese restaurants, of which more than 100 are located in Seoul.

Accordingly, between January and March, rice output reached 3.64 million tonnes; livestock production attained 2.28 million tonnes of meat, up 4.9%; fisheries output reached 2.7 million tonnes, up 3.3%; and forestry production totalled 12 million cubic metres of timber, an increase of over 3%. The sector’s export turnover reached 16.69 billion USD, up 5.9%, with a trade surplus of 4.78 billion USD, up 12%.
