Vietnam wins three bronzes in world informatics, design contests

Vietnamese representatives won three bronze medals in the final rounds of the Adobe Certified Associate World Championship 2018 (ACAWC) and the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2018 (MOSWC), which took place in Florida, the US, from July 29 to August 1.

The medals were secured at the categories of graphic design, Microsoft Word 2013 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2013. This was the first time Vietnam had gained such a result at the championships.

Of the four Vietnamese representatives sent to the competitions, Nguyen Tran Thao Nguyen, a third-year student from the Ho Chi Minh City Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, pocketed a bronze medal at the ACAWC.

Doan Duc Phong from the Le Hong Phong High School for Gifted Students in the northern province of Nam Dinh and Nguyen Ba Trong Dai, a former student of the Hanoi-based Phan Huy Chu High School obtained the two other bronze medals for their respective performances at the MOSWC’s Microsoft Word 2013 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 events.

The contests drew the participation of more than 1.3 million candidates from nearly 70 countries worldwide, with more than 200 of them competing in the final rounds.
