Vietnam, Cuba beef up friendship

Hanoi, April 17 (VNA) – Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong received a delegation from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in Hanoi on April 17.

Congratulating the success of the 8th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of Solidarity with Cuba, Phong stressed that Vietnam always supports Cuba’s socio-economic development and the fight against trade embargo from the US.

Phong informed his guest that head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai has become new Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association.

He stated the VUFO attached importance to the ties with the ICAP, which, he expects, would help promote the two countries’ cooperation.

Vice Chairwoman of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Marta Rojas Rodrigues, who led the ICAP delegation, praised the affiliations between the VUFO and ICAP and hoped to promote solidarity and friendship between the two peoples through the two agencies’ cooperation programmes.
