Vietnam, China localities to jointly host int’l cycling race

The event, which will take place on July 8-9, is part of activities responding to the Lao Cai – Northwest national tourism year 2017 and preparing for Sa Pa to become a national tourism area. 

It also aims to promote images of local people and landscapes to domestic and foreign visitors. 

The event is expected to draw the participation of 700 cyclists from Vietnam, China and other countries. 

Participants will compete in the category of individual terrain racing in Lao Cai province, while the individual downhill racing category for two age groups of under 35 and above 36 will be held in Hekou district, Yunnan province.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to UNESCO, presented the initiative at the meeting, emphasising its overarching objective of promoting the vital role of culture in advancing sustainable development in nations, while contributing to address the world’s complex challenges to ensure a safe and prosperous future for all.
