Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni hosted a state banquet for visiting Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong in Phnom Penh on February 25.
The Cambodian King expressed his deep gratitude to the Vietnamese government and people for their valuable support for Cambodia in the past and at present, which helps Cambodia gain remarkable achievements in all areas.
He highlighted Vietnam has helped Cambodia both at home and in the region as well as the globe when Cambodia is in difficulty and peace, and said he hoped Vietnam will continue supporting Cambodia to develop its economy.
For his part, Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong said the traditional relations between Vietnam and Cambodia has become a sacred symbol and invaluable property of the two nations.
This requires the two countries to overcome all challenges to push the bilateral ties forward for common prosperity, he added.
The leader expressed his belief that with the important achievements that Vietnamese and Cambodian people have gained in the cause of national development and the effective cooperation between the two countries over the past time, the bilateral relations will develop to a new height, meeting the aspirations and legitimate interests of the two peoples as well as for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in Southeast Asia and beyond.
