Vietnam Airlines starts selling tickets on HCM City-Quang Ninh route

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines began selling tickets on the route between the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City in the south on November 29.

The first commercial flight on the route will take off on December 30. The daily flight uses A321 airplane with 184 seats, 16 of which are business class.

It departs from Tan Son Nhat Airport at 14:00 and arrives at Van Don Airport on 16:05. The return flight takes off at 16:45 and lands in HCM City on 18:50.

Promotion ticket fares for the economic class are from 800,000 VND (34.4 USD) per leg (exclusive of tax and fees). Currently, tickets have been available in all agents of Vietnam Airlines, but yet online.

Construction on Van Don International Airport, the first of its kind in Vietnam invested by a private investor – SunGroup, started in 2015 with total investment of 7.5 trillion VND (330 million USD).

Covering 288ha, the airport accommodates support facilities, a two-module terminal and functional areas.

Under a March decision by the Ministry of Transport, Van Don will be an international airport, serving both civilian and military flights with a 3.6km-long runway. The airport will have an annual capacity of about 2 million passengers by 2020, which will increase to 5 million by 2030.

Van Don district of Quang Ninh is among three special economic zones planned in the country, the airport is expected to boost the local economy, including tourism at world-famous Ha Long Bay.
