Thac Ba lake tourism site development plan gets PM’s nod

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently approved a development plan for Thac Ba Reservoir tourism site in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

The main part of the plan will be carried out on an area spanning 1,200 ha.

The plan is expected to create a key tourism product for the tourism site, in line with related strategies and plans, as well as other economic sectors.

It also aims to protect the environment, water quality and contribute to ensuring security-defence, climate change response and disaster prevention in the province.

The plan is expected to connect the reservoir with other major attractions of Yen Bai province and Hanoi, while creating close links with other tourism sites in the mountainous and hilly areas.

Local authorities will strive to make Thac Ba reservoir be recognised as a national tourism site in 2025 and become an eco-tourism and entertainment centre of Yen Bai and the northern mountainous region in 2030.

By 2030, the site is hoped to welcome about 1 million visitors, of which 140,000 will be foreigners, raking in about 900 billion VND (38.7 million USD).
