President Tran Dai Quang holds phone talks with Russian President

President Tran Dai Quang had a telephone call on March 28 with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, congratulating him on his successful re-election.

President Quang expressed his belief that Russia under Putin’s leadership will remain stable and develop further, and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia will be developed strongly and effectively in areas, satisfying benefits of both sides, thus contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Quang extended deepest condolences of Vietnamese leaders and people to leaders and people of Russia over the loss of lives and assets in a fire in the Siberian city of Kemerovo on March 25, which killed 64 people, including many children.

President Putin affirmed that Russia always regards Vietnam as one of its prioritised partners in the Asia-Pacific region. Russia approves of the active role Vietnam in the region and commits to continue cooperating with the country to further promote bilateral ties in the coming time, he said.

During the call, the two leaders agreed on specific measures to implement previous agreements on various sectors like politics, trade, investment, science and technology, as well as defence and security to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia.

They also agreed on the increase of contacts and delegation exchanges, especially at high level. They concurred to start preparation work for the Friendship Year in 2019 on the occasion of 25 years of signing the treaty on basic principles for the bilateral ties.

President Tran Dai Quang invited President Vladimir Putin to visit Vietnam. The later accepted the invitation with pleasure.
